Black Friday? Just... Friday!
I don’t do Black Friday sales. Not this year. Not next year. Not any year. It’s just not for me and my small biz.
Everything I make is designed and printed by hand. Every item is made to order. This reduces waste and it gives my lovely customers a chance of customisation with colours and often personalisation. I put my heart and soul into my brand and I’m pretty darn proud of it.
I like to keep my prices fair all year round and the quality top-notch. I can’t compete with the big boys (or inflate my prices to make it look like an actual saving). I can’t handle ‘returns Thursday’ the following week either. I recently read somewhere that 1 in 3 shoppers will end up returning what they purchased over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend.
Throughout the year, I do run the odd sample sale. It’s a chance to grab a bargain with sample pieces, items with teeny marks/faults or designs/colour ways that I never released. Once a year, in early November, I have a 20% store wide discount (all small businesses know this is a biggy) for my business birthday. This is a celebration of another year in biz (yay!) and a thank you to my awesome customers. This suits me and it’s not a regular discount my brand can sustain.
Black Friday may suit large retailers but not small businesses. Please continue to support your favourite independents and your local high street. Support creatives making all the fun stuff that they put their heart and souls into. Life would be pretty boring without all the amazing small businesses trying their hardest.
Finally, to all my ace customers… thank you. I appreciate every order you place. Repeat customers, I see you. I see it all. Thank you.
Your support is amazing.
Thank you for shopping with me, sharing my biz, chatting with me on stories, bigging me up… I blaaaaahdy love ya!
